Being Well Is More Than Not Being Sick

If there is one thing I've learned over the years, it's that we have to stay informed and educate ourselves about health. As my health coach has said to me and many others, if we don't take care of our body, where are we going to live? We only get one. 

I heard a great analogy one time about health - or more specifically when it breaks down. Think of a health crisis as a fire. When a building is on fire the heroes of the first response units stop at nothing to get in there, get unsuspecting victims out and get that fire extinguished. When it's all said and done everyone goes into investigation mode. 
  • What happened to cause that? 
  • What went wrong? 
  • Where were the structural or electrical issues? 
  • How can we prevent this in the future?
Now imagine that the fire department is the medical field. When a patient comes in sick and broken down, the crisis at hand needs to be addressed. After the "fire" has been put out, it's time to do some deeper digging. What went wrong? Where are the deficiencies and the toxicities that caused that fire in the first place? How do we deal with those? In my case, after coming so close to death during treatment, how do we put this person back together?

My goal in this blog is to share with you simple things you can do to improve your overall health. I particularly discuss the health benefits of specific foods. I live by the things that I share with you, so while I'm not a doctor or a nutritionist, I know that what I tell you has worked for me.
